Horses have been an integral part of my life for around 35 years. Over the past 10 years I have developed a deeper understanding of horse behaviour and horsemanship, whilst diversifying my career in teaching and training, to encompass management and leadership roles, all of which have contributed to the enrichment of my personal development and growth along the way.
Prinnie and Roy both have a day job working as a pair of harness ponies. They regularly compete in Harness Driving Competitions all over Queensland and New South Wales and have won many ribbons and trophies in their careers. They are trained to work individually in a carriage or as a pair. They absolutely love to get out and about.
Both Prinnie and Roy also attend local Ag shows in led classes so they are both very accustomed to noise, people and having lots of interesting things going on around them. In their down time, they enjoy living together in their 10 acre paddock at our home in Kingaroy. They love their carrots and they especially love rolling in the sand.
I am around 13 years old, but a lady never discloses her true age. I have so far lived a full and busy life, carried many children over the years and have seen many places and homes. I was once a riding school pony and did mustering on a cattle farm, I love cows. I have now found my forever home here in Kingaroy and have offered my gentle presence and quiet wisdom to clients who visit us here at South Burnett EAL.
Rachael ensures I have massages and body work regularly and a healthy and nutritional diet. Our health and well-being is very important to do the special work we do.
I am a 6 year old Black Welsh Mountain Pony. Although I am only young I am very sensible. I have spent my youthful years going to shows and being led around as I am quite pretty, I am sure you will agree. I am also the King of big pony breaths, listen out for them in our session. I am very inquisitive and love to lick things and play with zippers!
On my days off I love to go carriage driving with Prinnie. I am barefoot (bare hooves) so no shoes for me and have the best hooves ever-so I heard my farrier say. I love carrots for a treat, sometimes we get some in our feed.
Our hairiest member to the team. Ben is on loan from Tracie Borg at Calveston Ponies. Ben is a solid boy, loves his tucker and is very inquisitive about everything. He is a Gypsy Cob X Shetland Cross and has beautiful fluffy feathers on his legs. What Ben lacks in height he makes up with his power. Ben also is able to go in harness with the other members of the team. He is one versatile boy!
Trixie has recently joined the herd here at South Burnett Equine Assisted Learning and being only a baby, she will slowly be introduced to working with clients. Trixie is 2 year old black tobiano Gypsy Cob and is bred by TriColby Cobs at Jimbour on the Darling Downs. Trixie is super cute and has fitted right in with her new friends.
Euston Park One Direction AKA Bryn looks just like one of the members of the herd with his beautiful black coat, white blaze and socks. Bryn is 13 hh so he is just a little bit bigger than the smaller ponies and can be ridden as well as worked in hand. Bryn is on loan from Ruth Porter who is well known for her beautiful and versatile ponies. Bryn is a calm confident boy who is very inquisitive and loves to be with people.
Blue is a bit bigger than the other smaller herd members but he is a gentle giant. He has beautiful red and white coat markings and as his name suggests he has striking blue eyes. Blue has a calm nature and goes with the flow. He is a friend to everyone in the herd and enjoys trying his hoof at everything he can. He always looks after his riders - big or small.
